Rules & Moderation

Playing Fair
Doodsy is a community of creators, and every room is a private studio where fun and respect come first. To help you maintain the best possible vibe for your games, we’ve built simple tools that allow room hosts to manage their space effectively. Here is how we keep the studio clean and competitive.
Automatic Auto-Kick
We believe that every spot in a Doodsy room is valuable. To ensure that active players always have a place to sketch, our system automatically monitors for inactivity.
- 40 Seconds Idle: If a player hasn't moved their cursor or typed a guess for 40 seconds, a friendly warning will appear on their screen.
- 15 Seconds Later: If there's still no activity after the warning, the system will auto-kick the player to the lobby. This keeps the game moving and ensures everyone in the room is ready to play!
Manual Actions
As a room host, you are the director of your studio. If someone is disrupting the fun, you have two primary tools at your disposal.
1. The Kick (5-Minute Timeout) Think of this as a "time-out." It removes a player from the room temporarily.
- Duration: 5 Minutes.
- When to use: Use this for minor interruptions, spamming, or if someone is clearly AFK but hasn't been caught by the auto-timer yet. It gives the room a chance to reset without being too harsh.
2. The Ban (Permanent) This is the ultimate tool for protecting your community. A ban is a permanent block from that specific room.
- Duration: Forever (for that specific room ID).
- When to use: Use this for serious rule-breaking, offensive behavior, or persistent trolling.
- Security: Once banned, our system remembers the player. Changing a nickname or refreshing the site won't grant them access back into your studio.
Drawing Rules
To keep Doodsy the best it can be, we ask all our artists to follow these two simple guidelines:
- Draw, Don't Write: The magic of Doodsy is in the sketching. Typing the actual word on the canvas ruins the challenge for the guessers. Use your artistic skills (even if they’re messy!) to show the idea instead of telling it.
- Be Respectful: We’re all here to have a good time. Keep your drawings appropriate for the group and treat your fellow doodlers with kindness.
By following these rules and using your host tools fairly, you’re helping make Doodsy a premium experience for every player. Happy sketching!
