Scoring Guide

Points & Strategy
Playing Doodsy is all about the joy of sketching, but we know that seeing your name at the top of the leaderboard feels pretty great too! Our scoring system is designed to be fair, rewarding both the lightning-fast guessers and the talented artists who bring words to life. Here’s a deeper look at how those numbers add up in every round.
Guessing Points
The faster you guess, the more you earn. It’s a race against the clock and your friends!
- First Guess (100 pts): If you’re the first one to crack the code, you’re rewarded with a flat 100 points. It’s the ultimate payoff for quick thinking.
- Subsequent Guesses (40-99 pts): Didn't get first? No worries! You still get a base of 40 points just for being right. On top of that, we add a "Speed Bonus" based on how much time is left on the clock.
- Friendly Tip: Don’t wait for the drawing to be perfect. If you see a round shape and the word might be "Apple," type it in! There’s no penalty for wrong guesses, so let your intuition run wild.
Artist Points
As an artist, your goal isn't just to draw something beautiful—it's to communicate. Points are awarded when other players successfully guess your drawing.
- Group Success: Your points scale with every correct guess. We calculate a pool of points based on the room's success and share it with you. The more people who "get" your art, the more you climb!
- Perfect Round (+10 bonus): There’s a special magic in a round where every single person guesses the word. When that happens, we give you a +10 bonus as a thank you for being such a clear communicator.
- Max Score (110 pts): A truly perfect round as an artist can actually net you more points than being the first guesser. It pays to be helpful!
Penalties
To keep the game competitive and fair for everyone, there is a small penalty if a drawing doesn't quite land.
- Zero Guesses (-10 pts): If the timer runs out and zero players have guessed your word, a small 10-point deduction is applied. This encourages artists to keep their drawings recognizable and fun for the whole room.
- Keep it Simple: You don't need to be Da Vinci. Sometimes a few simple lines are way more effective than a complex masterpiece that no one can figure out!
Quick Summary
- First Guess: 100 points
- Subsequent Guess: 40 + Time Bonus
- Artist Max: 110 (When everyone guesses correctly)
- Failed Drawing: -10 (Applied only if zero people guess)
Whether you're a sketching pro or a casual doodler, remember that every point is a celebration of your creativity. See you on the leaderboard!
